Updated | Covid antigen testing in Puglia

The test result shown is an antigen test done on 2 August in Brindisi. It cost 36€ for two, and was done at the local pharmacy by the pharmacist. The printed test results were available in English and in Italian in 15 minutes. No appointment was necessary.

Covid testing is available across Puglia, though you should make sure the test offered meets the requirements for ending quarantine / onward travel.

Bari Airport

Rapid Covid antigen tests are available at Bari airport. Located on the arrivals floor the service can be booked every day from 9am to 6pm. Call +393455402979 or by email:

You will receive a confirmation email or sms with the date and time of your reservation. The service operates every day, including Italian “bank”holidays. Capacity is around 90 tests per hour. The tests are processed within 15-20 minutes. A hard copy test result (inItalian and English) is issued, certified by medical personnel.

The service is available to anyone who books it - not only to departing and arriving passengers.

Bari Centrale (main train station)

Located by platforms 1-3 testing is operated by the Italian Red Cross. Testing is from 11am - 6pm daily. No booking necessary. Stand in line. Results in 15-20 minutes.

Bari Province

The following testing is carried out by ASL Bari, one of the regional branches of Italy’s health service.

Tests should be booked online when completing the autosegnalazione self-reporting form which has to be sent to the ASL branch for the province where you are staying.

Santeramo in Colle, via papa Paolo VI at the G. Casone sports field (Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9.30 to 11.30)
Molfetta, at Don Tonino Bello Hospital (Monday-Saturday from 8.30 to 12.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00)
Ruvo di Puglia, via dei floricoltori (Monday-Friday from 15.00 to 18.00 and Wednesday from 8.30 to 12.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00)

Bari, at Fiera del Levante access to piazzale Triggiani (Monday-Saturday from 8.00 to 12.45), at Ospedale Di Venere (Monday-Sunday from 8.30 to 12.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00)

Those coming from Greece, Malta, Spain and Croatia can book choosing the day, time and location. After confirming the appointment, the system generates a printable coupon, which can then be sent to the indicated email, with the reservation to be presented to healthcare professionals 72 hours after entering Puglia. The report is sent via email after 24 hours.

Those coming from other foreign countries or Italian regions can request a voluntary swab always by uploading the self-report form referred to. In this case you will be contacted to make an appointment.

By reservation at a drive-in station. The test is performed directly in the car. To make an appointment, call (+39) 0831.537170 from Monday to Friday from 9 to 13 and from 15 to 17, Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 13.

Lecce Province

No booking is required, just turn up but with a completed printout of the self-report form. However it is possible to book by sending your form to the ASL Lecce and you will be given an appointment.

Tricase (Panico Hospital, in the premises adjacent to the Pre-Triage, near the concierge - main entrance Piazza Cardinale Panico)
Nardò (Drive-through station to perform the test directly in car at the industrial area - Boncuri area)

When: Lecce | every day from 9 to 13 and from 15 to 19. Tricase | every day from 8 to 19.30. Nardò | from Monday to Saturday from 9 to 13.

Italy extends UK Quarantine requirements until at least 30 August.

Arrivals from the UK, and anyone who has been in the UK in the 14 days before arriving in Italy, requires to quarantine. Read the 29 July ordnance quarantine requirements here.

A covid test is still required prior to arrival. Travellers must produce a negative molecular or antigen swab test taken in the 48 hours prior to entering Italy.

A second molecular or antigen swab test is required to end the quarantine which can only be taken after five days in quarantine (i.e. on the sixth day).
