PUGLIA IN 360°
Puglia - Italy’s gay summer hotspot - has three annual Pride celebrations. The Big Gay Podcast from Puglia is proud to have sponsored them all.
Puglia (Salento) Pride
From Salento Pride 2019. The 2020 event, which was to be held in Brindisi marking a move from Gallipoli where it had taken place since its inception 5 years ago, had to be postponed.

Sadly, we lost all our pictures taken at Taranto Pride 2019. This picture is a recent picture of activities organised by Hermes Academy and Arcigay Strambopoli Taranto, the organisers of Taranto Pride, taken from their website.
Puglia’s LGBTQ+ Prides
The Big Gay Podcast from Puglia sponsored Salento Pride 2019 and Bari Pride 2019. We also made donations to Hermes Academy and Arcigay Strambopoli Taranto the organisers of Taranto Pride, and to Arcigay Salento co-organisers of Salento Pride.
We are always looking to support LGBTQ+ organisations based in Puglia. If you need support tell us about the work you do for LGBTQ+ people here in Puglia.
Puglia / Salento Pride
Salento Pride, rebranded as the more inclusive Puglia Pride, was due to take place on 20 June 2020 in Brindisi, switching destination from Gallipoli where it had taken place since its inception in 2015.
Gallipoli is the beating heart of gay summer in the Salento. But the organisers of Puglia’s most authentic Pride (also referred to as Puglia Pride) felt that in keeping with inclusivity Salento Pride, now in its 6th year, should be celebrated in the city of Brindisi.
Another Covid-19 casualty was 2020’s Bari Pride, although on 18 July 2020 the organisers held a socially distanced ”static” Pride event outside the Prefettura di Bari.

Usually held at the end of May, one of the first of Italy’s Pride Wave. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic, but the organisers hope to hold a Pride event in Taranto in October 2020.

We went to take part in Matera’s first LGBTI* Pride in 2019. We were amazed.
It felt as if the whole city had come out to wave their rainbow flags and cheer the parade on. A concrete example of the confidence and pride that the residents of Matera have developed in their city, its people and their communities.
