Covid-19 in Puglia | Italy and Vatican City added to UK quarantine list

Bulletin contains | update to information on travel to Italy from the UK | Travellers returning to the UK from Italy, Vatican City and San Marino as of 04:00 BST on Sunday 18 October must self-isolate for two weeks.

Italy had its highest daily count of Covid cases on Thursday, with 8,804 new cases.

A popular destination all year round it is visited by large numbers of UK residents, and was one of the last major countries in Europe on the safe list.

The country has recorded a seven-day rate of 64 cases per 100,000 people.

A rate of 20 cases per 100,000 is the threshold above which the government considers imposing quarantine conditions.

Travellers to Italy from the UK were already required to show evidence of a negative COVID test administered in the 72 hours before arrival in Italy.
